These images are the result of a residency I did in the summer of 2010 sponsored by Ljouwert Kulturele Haadsted in Friesland, Netherlands. I stayed at an idyllic cottage by one of the canals in an area De Veenhoop that the Dutch refer to as ‘the middle of nowhere’. It is in European terms a tranquil place, not too dissimilar in many ways to any small town you might find in New Zealand, where I am from. These are the resulting images from this so called ‘nowhere’.
